Come see CWT Farms this week they will have:

Fresh peas, new potatoes, baby beets,, tomatoes, apricots & onions & Idaho fresh cherries: Bing and Rainier cherries; Tomatoes-- as long as they last. Also baby zucchini!

CWT Farms will be at both the Sunset Market on Friday's as well at the Pier View Market on Saturdays!!!

Yesterday we had the opprotunity to visit Rimrock Elemetary School and teach about the importance of a Farmers Market in our Community...we talked about where the fresh local produce comes from, the set of a Market, the importance of customer service and all the live enteratainment at a Market. We even had a special guest from Play N Trade...MARIO !!! Thank You Play N Trade for your visit, we will have Mario and his friends at the Market on occasion, don't miss the fun!! Is Organic Produce More Nutritious?

This is me, Shelly Yorgesen, owner of both the Sunset Market at the Mall and the new Pier View Market at Snake River Landing....

I told my kids this is my Grand Champion cabbage, it puts a basketball to shame it is so big!! We grew our best garden ever in 2010, we started everything we could with plants purchased at our Market. In years past we have purchased from change stores but this year we had growers with everything we needed and we filled our garden with plants that were acclimated to our region. The results were phenomenal.

Here is an interesting note from the Nutrition Diva's book called " Secrets for a Healthy Diet:"

Because we place such a high value these days on doing things naturally, we expect that organic vegetables should be more nutritious than non organic ones. In fact, the research has shown mixed results. Some studies have found higher levels of nutrients in organic vegetables; others have found that organic produce was no more nutritious than regular vegetables. A few even found that conventional produce had more nutrients. In a review of 162 different studies on the nutritional content of organic versus conventional produce, British researchers recently concluded that that organics are, on average, no more nutritious than regular vegetables.

Because nutrients begin to fade as soon as produce is picked, how fresh the produce is has a much bigger impact on the nutritional content than whether it was conventionally or organically grown. A conventionally raised tomato that you buy at a roadside stand the day after it is picked is almost certain to contain more nutrients than an organically raised tomato that was picked two weeks ago and shopped to your grocery store from another continent.

The Grand Teton Mall is located on one of the 2 busiest streets in Idaho Falls. One can hardly miss the sight of our Sunset Market at the Mall on a Friday night on Hitt Rd. We are so excited about the opportunity and new flavor of and evening Market brings to Idaho Falls. Whether shoppers are on their way home from work, stopping by to stock up for a weekend camping trip or if couple are out on the town for the evening, the Sunset Market will be a hit for both crowds. We caught Matt and Catherine Stevens at our Market, if you look closely you can see one of Catherine's finds, a beautiful vase hand tossed by Travis Hull our pottery vendor. He does hand tossed pottery demonstrations at the frequently at the market. Come and check it out! What an amazing gift to be able to make such beautiful items for your home. Enjoy your new treasure Catherine!

July 24 Farmers Market at Grand Teton Mall

If you look closely you will see a Monarch butterfly on Green Thumb Nursery's Daisy's. The funniest thing happened on Friday before the market, I was out for a run and came upon an ailing Monarch on the road, I turned around and ran back to the butterfly, carefully picked it up and placed it on a nearby bush. I wished it well and ran on. When this butterfly graced our flowers with its beauty on Sat I couldn't help but smile. Pam Olsen one of our gardeners at the Market said a Monarch brings good luck.....it sure made our day. See you at the Market!

Grand Opening May 1 Information

Hello everyone!

We are 4 days from our Grand Opening, everything is really coming together and we can't wait to unveil our new Market. It is really shaping up to be a fantastic place to find all of your groceries for your upcoming weeks menu. We will have everything from Farm Fresh Eggs, to grass fed Pork, Chicken and Beef for sale. Artisan cheese from Beehive Cheese, they have just won several national awards for their originial cheeses as well as a world award! Yum....say CHEESE! We will also have fresh asparagus from our families farm in little Mattawa Wa.
Don't forget Mother's Day is coming up and we have potted plants, hanging baskets and beautiful handcrafted items she will love! These are just a tiny sample of the 51 vendors we will have at our Grand Opening.............did I mention a jumphouse for the kids? How about free Ice cream at the firetruck at noon---first 20 get em free!!

Ammon Farmers Market is Moving to the Grand Teton Mall!

Did you hear the news??? Its not a rumor anymore--due to a new mini-mall being built on our old location on 17th and Ammon rd next to Ace hardware the Ammon Farmers Market has moved into the Mall parking lot. Our new location is on Hitt Rd just out infront of Best Buy.

Grand Opening May 1
Hours: 10am - 2pm
Season May 1- Oct 31 or until our toes turn blue!!

Our goal is to be the biggest Farmers Market in SE Idaho, we want to open May 1 with 50 vendors! We are well on our way to meeting that goal and we still have room to grow---NEW VENDORS WELCOME!!

MUSICIANS WANTED!!!! Are you sporting some musical talents and looking for an outlet to use them? Come try the Farmer's Market. Many musicans collect great tips and you are welcome to promote your group and/or sell your CDs at the Market.
